Proton stake sold by Khazanah to DRB-Hicom

Malaysia's state-owned investment firm Khazanah has sold its stake in carmaker Proton in one of the biggest deals in the country's auto sector. 

• Khazanah offloaded its 42.7% stake in for 1.29bn ringgit ($410m; £269m) to DRB-Hicom.
• DRB, owned by billionaire Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary, will have to make a mandatory offer for the remaining shares.
• DRB already assembles vehicles for Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz.
• "DRB-Hicom's proposal also demonstrated the company's extensive involvement in the automotive sector and its network of strategic partnerships, both local and international," Khazanah said in a statement.
• "DRB-Hicom's proposed strategy and business plan provides an effective platform to enhance Proton's sustainability and meet its long-term growth needs."

Proton Cars; among the top reliable car

I had one experience where a friend downgraded Proton car saying that the manufacturing quality is very low. I think she is still living in the 80's when Proton was still taking its baby steps towards perfection in automobile industry. She even stated that a relative quit his job in Proton because he did not want to bear the responsibility of killing people on the road. Oh! Come on!

However recently in July, Direct Line Breakdown in London revealed that Proton is one of the few most reliable cars on British roads. This result is through their research on the car's reliability. Saga FL 1.3 Executive

There are many differences about the new Saga FL 1.3 Executive compared to the old Saga BLM 1.3. For example, the interior parts:

1. seats, different fabric light greyish-blue colour.
2. additional airbag. Last time it was only one for the driver now it is available for the from passenger seat.
3. USB/ audio aux
4. Audio controller at the stering wheel
5. power window for front and back window.

the exterior parts are:

1. front headlights, the design looks neat and of an executive style.
2. front grill of the emblem.
3. tail-lights, it is with LED to provide brighter signal for safety purposes

Proton menarik balik Gen2 dan Satria Neo tahun 2004 - 2008

Semasa saya mendengar berita di radio mengenai Proton meminta pembeli Gen2 dan Satria Neo 2004 - 2008 datang ke bengkel untuk 'check-up', saya rasa risau. Masa dengar tu, saya on the way ke pejabat untuk mesyuarat mingguan, nak juga tanya "ape hal ni bos?"

Rupanya tidak lah seserius mana, dan tak apply pada kesemua kereta keluaran tahun yang dikatakan. Cuma ada teknikal problem dibahagian air bag driver and certain spring kat dalam stereng. Petikan diambil dari paultan.org; 'There is an issue with the Clock Spring (slip ring), which is something that connects the switches and airbag in the steering wheel to the radio, horn and cruise control'. Jadi, kesan-kesannya adalah:

Berita baik untuk pekerja di bawah Government Link Company (GLC). Maybank menawarkan interest serendah 3.3% sahaja. Kalau nak dibandingkan dengan pekerja kerajaan, Bank Rakyat (bank yang disegani dengan interest paling rendah untuk pekerja kerajaan) hanya menawarkan 3.75% interest untuk membeli kereta. Untuk yang lain-lain, seperti biasa 4% untuk interest membeli kereta. Malah ada ura-ura interest akan naik lagi.
